Jean Vackiner was our guest on the Comment program Wednesday morning to talk about the “Purses With a Purpose” project of the American Legion Auxiliary. The project aims to offer some aid to our female veterans who have found themselves homeless. The Auxiliary is collecting new and gently used purses as well as toiletries and comfort items, including anything from tissue paper and combs and brushes to snacks. Other items requested were toothbrushes and toothpaste and small soaps. They do ask that you do not include mouthwash or any other item that includes alcohol.

You may drop off your donations at the drop boxes located at the Pineview lobby, or at the Director of Nursing office at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine. Other locations include the Cody Kilgore High School and at the Circle C Grocery in Cody.

They will be accepting donations from January 9th through the 16th at which time, the national president of the American Legion Auxiliary will arrive to collect the donations.

If you have any questions, call or text Jean at 402-376-4648 or email vackiner@yahoo.com.
