The 2018 Valentine FFA hired hand auction was held Tuesday evening at Valentine High School. After the soup and sandwich supper, 48 members were auctioned off to work an 8 hour day for the buyer. The unofficial total was over $8300 raised for the chapter. The average per hand was over 170 dollars each. Long time supporter Bob Simmons was the volume buyer purchasing 6 hired hands. Rick Weber purchased 5. Greg Arendt of Valentine Livestock Auction handled the auctioneer duties with his usual humorous style and efficiency. The portable panels and trailer, made by some of the senior boys from FFA, sold to Tom Davis of the Bow and Arrow Ranch for $6,750. Funds from the event will be used to help students attend state and national conventions and registration for contests.
