In observance of Veterans Day, Cherry Hills Estates will hold their Veterans Day program at 1:30 pm at 1110 East 10th Street in Valentine, will music by Kathleen Scholtes and Veteran Speaker Lewis and Joan Johnson discussing “Honor Flight”. They will recognize all Veterans attending and the public is welcome. 

The elementary, middle and high school have combined their programs at 2 pm at the Valentine High School Gym. The public is welcome to attend as we celebrate our Veterans and remember those who have sacrificed for our great country.

Leo Brinda American Legion Auxilary Unit 90 will celebrate military service members’ dedication and honor their sacrifices by hosting a free will donation potato bar and elk chili supper, along with the Valentine Lions Club, from 5-7 pm at the Cherry County Fairgrounds. The Richard Sokol Sr. Memorial Fireworks display will follow at approximately 7:30 pm.

In addition to these events on Monday, November 11th, the “Remembering Our Fallen” traveling photo memorial will will be on display Saturday, November 9th thru Wednesday, November 13th, open daily 9 am – 9 pm at the Cherry County Fairgrounds. The memorial includes military and personal photos of each of Nebraskan’s Fallen, including from Cherry County:

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 90 and the Veteran’s Organizations have worked hard to bring the Memorial Wall display to Valentine, along with support from the Cherry County Ag Society, for all to view and remember.
