Valentine Police Department Week in Review:

October 6-12, 2019

On 10/7/19 at 7:35 pm, an Officer observed a 25 year old Valentine man walking down the street with an open container of alcohol.  The man was cited.

On 10/8/19 at 10:20 am, Officers were requested to respond to the 300 block of North Wood Street in regards to a disturbance.  Parties involved described threats against people and animals.  All information will be forwarded to the Cherry County Attorney for his review.

On 10/8/19 at 5:03 pm, Officers received a call involving a fight in progress at the 100 block of East Highway 20.  Officers found a 56 year old Valentine man had refused to leave the premises. When he was asked to leave, he had become belligerent.  The subject was removed from the property and cited.

On 10/9/19 at 10:11 pm, a request to check on suspicious activity in the alley adjacent to the 400 block of North Hall Street was called in.  This led to Officers making contact with a 28 year old Valentine man.  The man was subsequently arrested for multiple drug violations involving marijuana and methamphetamine.

On 10/12/19 at 1:17 am, Officers were requested to respond to the 500 block of North Ray Street in regards to an assault resulting in injuries.  A 28 year old Valentine woman and 27 year old Valentine man were arrested in connection to this assault.  The duo also face additional charges of resisting arrest and assault on an officer.

On 10/12/19 at 5:00 pm, Officers were called to the 100 block of South Wood Street in regards to an assault.  The officers found that both parties involved had been active participants in the assault.  A 24 year old Valentine woman and a 26 year old Valentine man were arrested.  The woman will face additional charges of resisting arrest and assault on an officer.

On 10/12/19 at 5:45 pm, an Officer received information that a male subject was breaking into cars in the 500 block of North Cherry Street.  The 28 year old Valentine man was located and arrested.

Officers responded to 156 calls for service this week.

In addition:

During the weekend of October 11-13, 2019, the Valentine Police Department responded to numerous reports of vehicle break ins, assaults in progress and child abuse.  In a 24 hour time period, 7 arrests were made in connection to these incidents.  In addition to the above mentioned activity, on 10/13/19 at 12:18 am, Officers were requested to check the welfare of an abandoned 911 call in the 500 block of West 3rd Street.  Officers discovered that an infant child had been thrown from a 2nd story room and then hidden.  EMS was summoned and the child was transported for care.  A 19 year old Valentine woman was arrested in connection to this incident.  Many of the weekend issues could not have been resolved so quickly if it hadn’t been for eye witnesses stepping forward and making a difference.  Remember that the Valentine Police Department can be contacted at 402-376-3055 to report crimes or information witnessed.  911 is to be utilized in emergency situations.
