Former Nebraska Football coach Dr. Tom Osborne visited with about 40 Valentine area residents on August 23rd to talk about his Teammates mentoring program.
Dr. Osborne explained the impact a one on one mentoring situation can have on the mentee, his family and future. Osborne encouraged people to get invovled in a young persons life in a positive manner through the teammates mentoring program.
Contact local coordinator JJ Thorpe at the Valentine Middle School at 402 376 3367 to see how you can become involved. Currently there about 3 dozen mentor ships set up in Valentine School. They always have a waiting list of kids who want to be in the program but have a shortage of mentors. It take one hour per week during the school year.
