Update from the Valentine Police Department for the week in review from: May 26 – June 1, 2019
On May 26, 2019 at approximately 0420 hours, an Off duty Officer witnessed a shoplifting incident occur at a local business. The officer assisted the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office in apprehending the suspects. An arrest was made and property returned to business.
On May 30, 2019 at approximately 1018 hours, Officers were requested to respond to the area of highway 97 and 20 in regards to an assault. A traffic stop resulted and following an investigation a 45 year old Rapid City, SD male was arrested on suspicion of operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. An ambulance was also summoned by officers in regards to an unresponsive juvenile male who was located in the vehicle.
On June 1, 2019 at approximately 0912 hours, Officers were requested to handle an aggressive dog at large. A 23 year old Valentine man was issued a citation for dog at large (second offense).
On June 1, 2019 in the evening hours, a Valentine Police Department Cruiser was involved in a non-injury accident. The Cherry County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
Officers helped facilitate the Donut Dash this week held at the Valentine High School track.
