Areas around Cherry County, Todd and Tripp County have received significant rainfall since Monday, wreaking havoc on county roads. No travel is currently being advised on any and all Cherry County Roads, and several roads are impassable at this time. Please note this is not a comprehensive list and is subject to change. The following roads are closed until further notice.
As of Wednesday afternoon, May 22, 2019, roads closed in Cherry County include:
Highway 97 – 35 miles south of Valentine.
Goosecreek Road from Highway 83 to Purdum Road
NE Goosecreek Road and South Wood Lake Road to Highway 20.
West Wood Lake Road
A culvert has washed out on the Wolfenden Road.
Fawn Lake Road to Highway 61
East Calf Creek Road north of Thedford
North Whitman Road between Wiese’s and Storer’s
Highway 92 Arthur and McPherson Counties
Rural roads in South Dakota are also under closures; but as of Thursday afternoon, SD Highway 44 at the White River Bridge is now open. Caution is still being advised.
