The Heart of Christmas Parade of Lights committee would like to encourage the community to begin thinking about joining in on the festivities on November 24th not only as a spectator, but as a parade entry! Businesses, organizations, families, individuals; all are encouraged and invited to “light up” and help make Main Street the place to be on that Saturday at 6:00 pm.
As a reminder, this event is taking place on Shop Small Saturday and is a combined effort to bring people from near and far to our great city to shop as well as a way to thank the local businesses who so generously give to all of our local non-profit organizations throughout the year.
If you are one of those organizations who solicit donations from the businesses throughout the year, you can give back by entering the parade or perhaps host something on Main Street that will attract visitors throughout the day such as a hot dog stand, hot cider, hot chocolate, popcorn or even chili; a live nativity for a couple hours before the parade or even a group of Christmas carolers.
Santa will make an appearance again this year after the parade. He will be visiting with the young ones at the Trail Head Park across from the Comfort Inn in the pavilion where “warming” refreshments will be served.
Other events and happenings are in the works that will definitely make this a day and event in Valentine that you won’t want to miss! Reminder: It takes parade entries for there to be a parade!
Stay tuned for further updates and if you have questions you may contact Debbie Schipporeit, CJ Leonard, Eve Millar, David Dorsey, Kim Jeffers or Deanne Monroe OR you can message the committee on Facebook, “Valentine’s Heart of Christmas Celebration”. If you haven’t started following the page yet, you are invited to do so as updates will be posted there.
