The Cherry County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on August 14, at 10:00 AM at the courthouse.

Regular meeting minutes from the July 31, 2018 meeting were read and approved.

Clerk of the District Court Lorana Eggert presented a renewal of the contract between DHHS and her office for child support enforcement.The contract renewal was approved by the board.

Commissioner Storer moved to approve a Forest Resolution  which provides $11,589 to the Cherry County Road Fund, $18,000.00 to the Sawyer Memorial Library Fund and $28,359 to the Bookmobile Fund. The motion was approved.

Commissioner Van Winkle moved to accept Lynell Stillwell’s resignation from the Planning Commission Board and thank her for her years of service. The motion was approved.

The Board discussed the schedule for the August 21, 2018 Public Hearings. It was the consensus of the Board to limit verbal testimony at the hearings to 5 minutes per person and to allow written testimony germane to each hearing topic to be submitted to the Board.

The Board reviewed some preliminary proposed budget requests for fiscal year 2018-2019. It was the consensus of the Board to hold a special meeting at 2:00 PM on August 27, 2018 for the purpose of preparing the County’s 2018-2019 budget.

The commissioners approved the General Agreement between National Park Service Niobrara National Scenic River and Middle Niobrara Weed Awareness Group allowing use of an airboat as a tool in noxious weed control efforts along the Niobrara River.
