On July 24th, 2018 over 200 people along with the Valentine Police Department came together to celebrate National Night Out. Food, games, competitions and prizes were enjoyed by all. Evan Osnes took the top prize for the Belly Flop Competition, with Travis Greenough finishing 2nd and Casey Miller finishing 3rd. The Valentine City Lifeguards took first place in the First Responder Competition.
National Night Out is funded in part by Healthy Choices for Cherry County utilizing State Funds provided thru Region 4 Behavioral Health System and DBH. This wonderful community event was made possible with the help of Nebraska Department of Health, City of Valentine Lifeguards, National Park Service, Nebraska State Patrol, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Cherry County Sheriff’s Office, Cherry County Hospital Ambulance Crew, RDAP, Viaero, Union Bank and Trust, Valentine Fire Department, Valentine Lions Club, Brewer’s Canoes, Zion Lutheran Church, Midland News and KVSH.
