Scam phone calls continue to be an issue around the area. Latest scams include the IRS, Student Loan payments, and DISH Network calling to upgrade your service. Scammers have the technology to “spoof” phone numbers to make it appear that they are calling from the organization, and can even utilize local numbers. A reminder to never give personal information over the phone. If you question the call, hang up and call the provider directly. Governmental organizations such as the IRS will never contact you by phone. Report scams to the local police department and stay vigilant against anything sounding suspicious.
