The Cherry County Sheriffs Office, Merriman Volunteer Fire Department and Cody volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a semi trailer fire near mile marker 145 on Highway 20 around 10:30CT.
The fire started under the trailer shortly after a tire blew starting the trailer and a new farm tractor on fire. The fire was extinguished but the tractor and semi trailer were destroyed.
Cherry County Roads Department assisted in removing the burnt tractor and semi trailer. Nebraska Department of Transportation with Nebraska State Patrol assisted with traffic control. No injuries were reported from the incident.
