Multiple fire crews responded to the report of a large grass fire near Dewey Lake on the Valentine National Wildlife Refuge.  The 3pm alarm sent Valentine Volunteer Fire Department personnel and trucks south of Valentine to assist refuge fire trucks.  Wood Lake had trucks en route before being turned around, and Kilgore Firemen were standing by in case the need were to arise.  Wood Lake trucks were mostly turned around prior to arrival on scene, and Kilgore was never paged.  Trucks began returning to the Valentine Fire Hall after about an hour on scene.  No details yet as to the cause of the fire or the acres burned.  Stay tuned to KVSH Radio as we will get an update on these details.
