The Valentine Volunteer Fire Department, Kilgore Fire Department and Cherry County Hospital Ambulance Service responded to the report of a semi tractor-trailer fire east of Kilgore on Highway 20 at about mile marker 180.  According to radio traffic, it was apparently an asphalt truck fire that was fully engulfed at the time of the call.  A small patch of grass also burned as the result of the blaze.  The grass and truck were both quickly extinguished, although fire crews did stay on scene to make sure the fires were cool and there was no risk of flare-ups.

This follows a fender bender on Highway 20 in west Valentine near Thatcher Street late Wednesday afternoon that emergency crews responded to.
