Cool, rainy weather has delayed the opening of the Valentine Family Aquatic Center by a few days. Traditionally, the pool opens on Memorial Day each year. However, with the temperatures in the 50’s and 60’s this week in addition to the rainy conditions, the pool has not been able to open as scheduled. According to Valentine Youth Activities Director Luke Grubham, it is hoped that the pool may open on Thursday with temperatures expected to hit the 70 degree minimum required to open the pool. If not, temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 70’s to the low 80’s on Friday. The pool does have a heating system which is assisted by natural solar heating, so the pool water may still be on the cool side. As reported earlier, the pool will be fully staffed with 13 lifeguards this year.
