At about 10:30 Tuesday morning, the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department was requested to the Prairie Club south of Valentine for a fire alarm that was sounding in their main office building. Shortly after trucks were en route to the golf resort, emergency crews were notified that it was a false alarm. Firemen returned to the fire hall just a short time later.
On a related note recent rains have alleviated some of the wildfire risk in the region. At midnight on May 20, the burn ban that was in effect for a majority of the state was allowed to expire. However, area fire chiefs are still urging caution.
