While the weather is stuck in Spring, may people will start thinking “Summer” with the Memorial Day weekend. According to youth activities director for the City of Valentine, Luke Grubham, the Valentine Family Aquatic Center is scheduled to open this Monday, weather permitting. Apparently, cooler temperatures have kept the water temperature quite cold in the solar heated pool, which may delay the opening date by a couple of days. Regardless of water temperature, the outside temperature will have to be a minimum of 70* to open, and forecasted highs for the day are currently predicted in the lower 60s.
KVSH Radio will have an announcement on the status of the pool’s opening day, so stay tuned.
On a related note, the pool will be fully staffed with 13 lifeguards this year including 2- and 4- year veterans as well as a couple new faces. Lifeguards at the pool this year include Traven Fletcher, Finley Mosner, Caitlyn Mack, Doc Lancaster, Grace Murphy, Courtney Billings, Maeli Patterson, Kennedie Assman, Jayden Bacon, John Gibson, Landen Mooney, Reegan Eggert, and Boone Jespersen.
The pool will be open from 1-7 daily, with an extended “family night” on Wednesdays until 9pm.
Family passes will be $150, individual passes will cost $60 for the season, with daily admission $4. Concessions will also be available for purchase at the pool.
