With Summer coming, soon it will be time to think about fireworks again. A reminder that the City of Valentine has adopted an ordinance stating when you can ignite fireworks. Police Chief Jamon Slama appeared on the KVSH Comment Program and the subject came up for discussion. As Chief Slama reported fireworks may be set off during the period prior to the 4th of July, when fireworks are being sold, from 8AM until 10PM up through July 2nd. They may be set off from 8AM until midnight on July 3rd and 4th.
The only other time where fireworks are permitted without a special permit is all day on December 28th until 1AM on January 1st.
Residents can obtain a city permit for special occasions up to four times per year, per household.
