The National Weather Service continues to report improvements to drought conditions over the northern Sandhills, although conditions in Nebraska’s southwest have deteriorated.  Cherry, Brown, Rock and Keya Paha Counties, as well as Grant, Hooker, and Thomas Counties are now in either D1 or D2 drought.  Western Sheridan County and points east in the northeastern panhandle remain in D3 drought, otherwise classified as extreme drought.  According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, counties in the KVSH listening area that have seen improvement over the past reporting period include Sheridan, Cherry, Keya Paha, Brown, Rock, Boyd, Holt, Hooker and Grant.  The forecast over the next week call for very good odds for increased precipitation.
