Sand Painters Art Club Announces Winners of 2025 Spring Art Show; 17 Works Advance to State Competition

The Sand Painters Art Club is thrilled to announce the successful completion of their 2025 Spring Art Show, showcasing a diverse range of talent and artistic expression. The exhibition, held at the Valentine Public Library, culminated in the selection of 17 exceptional pieces that will advance to the Association of Nebraska Art Clubs (ANAC) 2025 State Show in North Platte, Nebraska.

     The “Best of Show” honor was awarded to David Dorsey of Valentine, NE for his acrylic painting titled “Barn Swallow.” Dorsey’s acrylic painting “The Empty Bath” also earned a spot at the state competition.

      Other artists whose outstanding works will be representing the Sand Painters Art Club at the ANAC State Show include:

 * Cindy Brader from Glenvil, NE with her oil paintings “Cool Day” and “Winter Red.”

 * Rachell Broadwell of Hastings, NE, with her oil paintings “Sandstone + Water I” and “Sandstone + Water. II”

 * Jan Knispel of Valentine with her fiber art pieces “Sari 1” and “Fantasmagoria.”

  * Chana Orton of Mills, NE, colored pencil “The Uphill Climb” and acrylic painting “Preserved Memories.”

 * Sue Pavelka of Valentine, watercolor and ink piece “Seascape.”

* Priscilla Portenier of Springview, NE, with her oil painting “Shady Lane.”

 * Bobbie Roshone of Valentine with her photographs “Bull Bash” and “Bronc Raine.”

 * Pat Schemmer of Valentine with her pastel piece “Sandhills Pond Snails.”

 * Joan Swim of Springview, NE, with her oil paintings “Breeze Whispered Reflection” and “Amber Guard.”

     The Spring Art Show was judged by Ned Day, from Sinte Gleska University, Mission, SD.

     The public is invited to view the show of artwork from the Sand Painters Art Club’s 2025 Spring Show at the Valentine Public Library during regular business hours throughout the month of April. This is a fantastic opportunity to witness the talent within the local art community and celebrate the artists whose work will be representing the region at the state level.
