The Sustainable Beef Packing Plant in North Platte is officially open, with an annual revenue projection of $1.2 billion and plans to process 1,500 head of cattle per day when fully operational.
In 2022, the rancher-led meat processing plant partnered with Walmart as a minority stakeholder, ensuring a consistent demand for Nebraska’s top-quality beef.
Yesterday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official opening of the 556,000-square-foot facility, highlighting the support of community members, politicians, and local producers. The plant is expected to begin processing cattle by mid-to-late May.
This packing plant is designed to maximize production efficiency and space utilization, providing ample room for employees and future technological upgrades. Sustainable Beef will start under Primary processing beef plant with opportunities in the future if desired to include the Secondary processing. Primary processing involves slaughtering, cutting, and packaging beef, while secondary processing includes further preparation, such as producing ground beef or pre-cut steaks for consumers.
