Lincoln, NE – As floor debate approaches for the controversial LB 646, a bill proposing to exempt feedlots under the Nebraska Livestock Brand Act at the expense of cow calf producers, Senator Storer introduces AM 810 to LB 646. Citing the lack of sufficient input from the cow-calf industry and the Brand Committee, Senator Storer’s compromise highlights the importance of livestock inspection in protecting Nebraska’s leading cash commodity, the cattle industry.

Specifically, AM 810 mandates the Nebraska Brand Committee to develop a comprehensive report with recommendations for updating fees and inspections across all sectors of the livestock industry. This report is to be electronically delivered to the Clerk of the Legislature by December 31, 2025.

Senator Storer emphasizes that AM810 will facilitate meaningful discussions across the industry to evaluate any potential changes to the Brand Act.
