This is national Severe Weather Awareness week across the country, and in Cherry County authorities are making sure the City of Valentine’s emergency alert sirens are in good working order in the event of severe weather or other emergencies.  According to Cherry County Emergency Management director Jessica Coyle, during Severe Weather Awareness Week Cherry County Emergency Management will be testing sirens in Cody, Kilgore, Valentine, Wood Lake and Springview on March 26th at 10 AM CT/9 AM MT. The sirens will subsequently be tested the 1st Friday of every month April through October at 10 AM CT/9 AM MT. Just as a reminder the sirens are only meant to alert those outside to seek shelter in the event of severe weather and cannot always be heard indoors. Please continue to be able to get notifications via another source in the event of severe weather.
