A 16-year-old boy was found dead from exposure to freezing weather in Tripp County.
The Tripp County Sheriff’s Office says at noon Sunday, they received a call regarding an abandoned vehicle found in the yard of a home just north of the South Dakota/Nebraska border along Highway 183.
Authorities say the vehicle appeared to have become stuck in tire ruts and brush. The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old boy, was found about 150 yards from the vehicle by family members.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and “appeared to have succumbed to exposure.”
The death is currently under further investigation.
