According to program coordinator Michelle Garwood, 859 valentines were collected in the annual Valentines for Veterans card drive. The valentines were donated this year from a variety of schools, organizations, and individuals from around the area. Because the goal of 1,000 valentines was not met this year, the group took advantage of about 200 or so valentines that were left over from last year’s effort.
Overall, 115 individual veterans received a card this year, and the remaining cards were sent to veterans’ homes in Bellevue, Norfolk, Scottsbluff, and Kearney, NE as well as veterans’ homes in Sheridan, Buffalo and Cheyenne, Wyoming and Hot Springs, South Dakota.
