At the Cherry County commissioners meeting on Tuesday morning, the board elected their leadership for the upcoming year. Martin DeNaeyer, who had served as Chairman of the Board, was nominated for the vice chair position, while Mike McConaughey was named chairman. The board members were also assigned various committee assignments.
In other business, Jay Dee Osburn was appointed Cherry County Highway Superintendent to oversee the 1 and six year road improvement plans. JayDee is already a county roads department employee and recently completed the highway superintendent certification. The commissioners voted to do away with the Road Supervisor Job position and job description.
The board is also working on replacing two members for the planning and zoning board. Albert Ericson and John Lee have both left the board.
The next regular Commissioners meeting will be on January 28th.
