NK Waste’s compost pile ignited over the weekend and is continuing to burn. Right now, the pile is too frozen to break up so the burn will continue for at least a few more days. Should you see or smell smoke, that could be the cause. There are also several controlled burns happening at Fort Niobrara and the Valentine Refuge which will increase the smell of smoke in the air.
