Officer Hoefs was celebrated on January 2, 2025, for her remarkable 10 years of
dedicated service to the city of Valentine. Known for her commitment and
professionalism, Officer Hoefs has become a cornerstone of the Valentine Police
Department, earning the admiration of local residents.
The milestone was marked with a private gathering organized by the Valentine Police
Department. Family members and coworkers came together to honor Officer Hoefs’
contributions and to express their gratitude for her years of service in maintaining
the safety and well-being of the community.
This recognition adds to a series of recent milestones within the department. In
September 2024, Officer Brandon Ormesher was honored with his own 10-year service
award, highlighting another decade of dedication to Valentine. Additionally, Chief
Jamon Slama, who has been with the Valentine Police Department for an impressive 21
years, continues to lead the department with experience and commitment.
“The dedication of our local law enforcement officer have to the city is an
inspiration,” said Bobbi Johnson, administrative assistant for Valentine Police
Department. “We are fortunate to have had several long standing officers serving our
community.”
The celebration comes at a time when law enforcement agencies across the state are
grappling with staffing shortages. Departments statewide have reported difficulties
in recruiting and retaining officers, making the commitments of officers like Hoefs
and Ormesher, and the leadership of Chief Slama, even more significant.
As communities face the challenges of low numbers in law enforcement personnel,
these milestones serve as a reminder of the dedication and resilience of Valentine’s
officers. Their service underscores the vital role of law enforcement in ensuring
public safety and fostering trust within the community.
The event honoring Officer Hoefs highlighted not only her contributions but also the
collective efforts of the Valentine Police Department in upholding safety and
community values for decades.
