The Cherry County Commissioners made a couple appointments to fill vacancies at their final meeting of 2024.
The board unanimously approved Samantha Leonard to the Cherry County Clerk position. This follows the resignation of Brittny Longcor earlier in the year who has been in the clerks office for nine years, six of which have been spent as County Clerk.
Leonard has been in the office for just under 3 years prior to this appointment.
Jessica Hanson was appointed to the Clerk of the District Court position at the same meeting. This position was made available following the resignation of Lorana Eggert who will remain in the office until January 17th. Because this is an elected position, this appointment will be effective until the end of Eggert’s term at which time, voters will cast ballots for the job.
