In a release to KVSH Radio Monday evening, Open Plains Transit director Jonnie Kusek state that “Due to prolonged delays in operating reimbursement costs, from multiple government agencies at various level, all Open Plains Transit services have bee suspended. Open Plains Transit hopes for this to be a temporary situation and for services to be reinstated by December 18th of this year. She went on to say this will be entirely contingent upon reimbursement status.”

While appearing on the KVSH Comment Program this morning, Kusek stated that this will effect all facets of public transportation in the Valentine area. It will shut down the bus to North Platte and West on Highway 20 as well as bus services inside the Valentine City Limits.

During the discussion on KVSH, Kusek stated that it would be good for local people to voice concerns to elected officials including state senators or even US Representatives. She did say that she feels strongly that Open Plains Transit will return soon and be stronger than ever.
