KVSH Radio was proud to host a telethon to help raise money for a new community ran 100 seat theater in Valentine. The event was a big success according to Heart City Theater committee member Jerilyn Colburn, who reported that a total of approximately $81,000 was raised for the project during the day. $56,000 in pledges and donations were called in and another $25,000 from Danielski Farms as a match. Donations ranged from 50 dollars to $5,000 even pledges for 10 and 15 thousand dollars. The committee appreciates every one of them. Stay tuned to KVSH Radio next week for a final total report on the effort.

There were challenges put out by classmates, fellow club members, fellow movie enthusiasts and more. Six students from Valentine High School joined the on air event along with 4 middle school students. They all expressed their exuberance for getting a new theater in Valentine.

If you would like to make a donation to the theater they can be dropped off at KVSH Radio or Union Bank and Trust. They can also be mailed to Box 117, Valentine Nebraska. Watch for a beef raffle coming up in the next few days and other fund raising events as the committee moves toward the goal of $150,000 for the project.

There will be a meeting with interested contractors in the next few weeks, followed by design work, demolition and construction. There will still be plenty of opportunity to volunteer and help out.
