The Nebraska Department of Roads recently moved in to the new 27,000 square foot facility on Highway 97 just South of Valentine. Construction of the new building began in early 2023 and took nearly 18 months to complete. Along with the Department of Transportation, the Nebraska State Patrol office will be housed in the building along with The Office of CIO which provides statewide desktop and laptop support. There will be an open house this Friday from 11:30 to 2pm for the public to take a guided tour and presentation on the construction phases. The building sets on a 20 acre parcel of land with a cost of over 8.2 million dollars. Superintendent Dennis Connot told KVSH news “The simple truth is that we had outgrown the old shop at 1st and Government Streets”.
That facility served DOT for over 50 years.
