At Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Cherry County commissioners, a large turnout by the public led to the commissioners moving the meeting to the Cherry County courtroom down the hall from the commissioners’ meeting room.  Most in attendance were present for the BSH Kilgore report of compliance with the conditions of approval prior to construction.  During the discussion, commissioner Mike McConaughey stated that as a volunteer firefighter himself, he did not believe that the fire suppression plan was comprehensive enough.  A representative from BSH Kilgore stated that this portion of the plan would evolve with meetings and training sessions with local and area firemen and their departments, citing a meeting planned later in the day with Kilgore Fire Department.

Per an earlier PUC agreement, BSH Kilgore would have to begin construction prior to October 15th.  This was not an action item on the agenda, and no action was taken.

The board went over several proposals and quotes for skid steers for the county roads department, but tabled that item until the October 29th meeting.

Cherry County Clerk Brittny Loncor submitted her resignation to the board, stating that another opportunity had presented itself.  All three commissioners stated that her absence in the Clerk’s office would be a substantial loss, citing her knowledge and professionalism before unanimously accepting her resignation effective November 22nd of this year after roughly 6 years holding the office and another 3 years working in the clerk’s office prior to that.  This did prompt council chair Martin DeNaeyer to set the date for the meeting covering the county’s comprehensive plan prior to her departure from the position.  The meeting was tentatively slated for 4pm Central Time on November 19th at the Cherry County Fairgrounds.
