November 25th was a beautiful sixty degree day and the backdrop for Valentine’s Shop Small Town Saturday and the 3rd Annual Heart of Christmas Celebration.

Many Main Street businesses held sales throughout the day. Viaero Wireless was the host to the Sand Painters’ Art Show. The Sand Painters would like to thank those who visited the show and signed up for the drawing. Dan Colburn won Eve Millar’s framed print. Ellen Moore won the Sugar Creek canvas print. Linda Hahn won Patricia Schemmer’s pie plate and Janette Duffield won David Dorsey’s print.

The Parade of Lights started down Main Street a few minutes after six. Fourteen spectacular floats were in this year’s parade. Parade winners were 1st place – The Lady Wranglers, 2nd place – KVSH Radio, 3rd place – The Leonard Family.

Following the parade Santa and Mrs. Claus were at Country Pride Coop. Area 4-H Clubs provided hot cocoa and cookies for Santa’s visitors.

The People’s Choice Christmas Tree Contest judging concluded on December 4th. Eight trees were decorated by various organizations and groups. This year’s winners are: 1st place- P.E.O. The tree featured hand weaved wheat ornaments by Mary Henderson. The 2nd place tree was decorated by the LOGOS K-5th grade. The theme of their tree was God’s Love Never Melts which featured the kid’s handmade snowmen ornaments. The Judging Card winner was Ellen Moore.

The winners of both the parade and the People’s Choice Tree judging can pick up their Chamber Bucks at State Farm Insurance.

The Heart of Christmas Celebration committee would like to thank all those who participated and made this year’s event such a wonderful success. We are already looking forward to next year’s event and would like the community’s input about how to make our event even better.
