KVSH News was contacted by former Cherry County GOP Chair Kathy Morris to announce that as of last Wednesday, September 25th, all four members of the Cherry County GOP had resigned, citing the recent behavior of the Tony Tangwall campaign.  Morris stated that 43rd Legislative District Senate candidate Tony Tangwall and his campaign had requested an endorsement by the Cherry County GOP.  According to Morris, the policy of the organization was to refrain from endorsing any candidate in a nonpartisan race, especially when two Republicans were running against one another.  Morris went on to state that the Tangwall campaign began “badgering” the organization for a special meeting to allow an endorsement until all members of the board resigned at the September meeting, effective immediately.

The Cherry County GOP Board consisted of chairwoman Kathy Morris, Vice-Chair Craig Miles, Secretary Joy Miles, and Treasurer Shirley Schuman. Miles told KVSH News that he and Joy resigned to avoid turmoil within the county GOP and they did not feel “Badgered”.

Tony Tangwall returned a call from KVSH Radio to say that while the campaign did submit a written request for an endorsement, the claim that the campaign “badgered” the board was “a complete lie” and said that his campaign has a great repour with all of the other county GOP organizations in the 43rd district as well as their chairs.

This is a developing story, stay tuned to KVSH for further details.
