The Kansas State Championship of Cowboy Fast Draw was held on Thursday September 19th at the Cherry County Fairgrounds in Valentine. Local place winners included Nancy Storms, 8th place of 21 women shooters. Mike McCoy placed 7th of 41 men and Mike Burge placed 10th overall. Ira, Eli and Ian Wells placed 2nd through 4th in the youth division.
Day two of fast draw competition concluded on Friday afternoon with the Nebraska State Championships. There were 48 men shooters and 24 woman shooters along with 6 youth shooters. Highlights included Nancy Storms 5th place in ladies. Keeleigh Burge was youth division champion and Mike Burge was Nebraska Resident Champion. Saturday and Sunday was the Great Plains Territorial match. Dean Storms won the Territorial Championship and Loren Appleman was the highest placing territorial resident winner. Keeleigh Burge placed 2nd in youth category.
