The entire country has their eyes on this years’ presidential election in the U.S. But locally, there are a couple races that will be of particular importance in the Valentine area. The Valentine Community Schools and Valentine City Council races will be decided in this fall’s general election.
The VCS race will seat 3 on the school board. Jo Hand, Shane Kime, are challenged by Michelle Kluender, Byron Burdick, Lynde Elliot, and James Ward. Incumbent Clint Assarson chose not to run for another term.
The race for city council will also seat 3. Those running include incumbents; Ross Brockley, Kalli Keiborz and Kyle Arganbright, challenged by Jason Gale and Max Eggert.
KVSH News will be hosting a couple of candidates’ forums. The first is for the Valentine Community Schools Board of Education, slated for Monday October 14th. The city council candidates’ forum is scheduled for Wednesday October 16th. Both
forums will be at 7PM at Mid Plains Community College Campus and will be broadcast live on KVSH and KVSH. com.
The general election will be held across the country on November 5th, but Cherry County will be mailing out ballots to registered voters on Wednesday, October 16th.
