Preparations have started for the West 4th Street (US HWY-83 North) project in Valentine. Paulsen Construction was awarded the contract and has a tentative start date of April 1st, 2025. This ¾ mile long project starts at west of 4th & Main Street and ends at the Minnechaduza Creek Bridge along HWY 83 north. For this project, a Detour is planned for 3rd Street during the school break of the summer of 2025.
Work will focus on the 3rd Street Detour. The work will remove existing roadway radi and replace them with a wider turning radius to accommodate HWY 83 traffic. The wider radi will be built at the intersections of 3rd & Cherry and 3rd & Edna, utility work will also be included in this work. With this work completed, traffic can be detoured onto 3rd Street when school is out for summer break.
Placement of Temporary Traffic Control will be adjusted to match work done by the contractor, allowing local traffic thru work zones. This work is expected to be completed by mid-October.
