According to a press release to KVSH News, the Cherry County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting Thursday September 19th at 3pm in the Commissioners’ meeting room of the Cherry County Courthouse located at 365 North Main Street in Valentine. The Commissioners will conduct interviews for the Cherry County Assessor position and any other business that may come before the board.
This follows the resignation of Cherry County Assessor Jackie Moreland effective September 10th. Property Tax Administrator Sarah Scott stated that the county would need to make an appointment to fill the position within 45 days of the vacancy, meaning that a replacement must be in the office no later than October 25th.
