With winds gusting over 50 miles per hour and temperatures in the upper 80s, multiple agencies from north central Nebraska are responding to fires in south central South Dakota.
At 2:50pm a mutual aid request was made to Kilgore Volunteer Fire Department to send a grass rig to help in battling a fire located a mile north of White River. Then a couple more calls coming in within the next 10 minutes to Valentine and Cody firemen to respond to a mutual aid request fighting a fire east of Okreek. More details on these fires will be updated as new information becomes available.
UPDATE: All Cody and Kilgore crews responding to the Okreek fire have been redirected to the fire north of White River as of 3:30pm Central Time. Valentine is still responding to Okreek.
