The Valentine Family Aquatic Center was very busy over the 2024 season. Over the summer, approximately 45 family passes were purchased along with 21 individual passes and about 2,100 daily passes purchased.
According to the City of Valentine’s revenue and expense data, the pool generated roughly $31k in revenue, but cost the city almost $125k to operate. The city sales tax contributed greatly to help offset the difference in operating costs. According to City Manager Shane Siewart, a good portion of the youth activities director’s salary is included in this budget, as well as increased pay for lifeguards. Siewart went on to state that it does take a sizeable staff of lifeguards to remain insured.
The Valentine Family Aquatic Center is slated to re-open for the 2025 season beginning Memorial Day weekend, weather permitting.
