Incidents/Arrests:
On 08/05/2024 at 8:29 pm, an officer responded to the area of 2nd and Macomb Streets for an unattended child. An investigative report has been forwarded to the Cherry County Attorney for review.
On 08/06/2024 at 1:45 pm, officers with the Valentine Police Department and Cherry County Sheriff’s Office responded to 8th and Main Street for a domestic disturbance. A 27-year-old man from California was arrested for 3rd degree domestic assault. In addition, assistance was requested from Law Enforcement Division to handle several federal lacey act violations.
On 08/08/2024 at 11:50 am, an officer responded to the 600 block of west highway 20 regarding the theft of an automobile. A 56 year old South Dakota man has been identified as a suspect.
On 08/10/2024 at 3:09 am, a sexual assault was reported to the department. The investigation is ongoing.

On 08/04/2024 at 3:32 pm, a business alarm was activated in the 400 block of north Main Street.
On 08/06/2024 at 12:46 pm, an assault was reported in the 100 block of west highway 20.
On 08/06/2024 at 7:46 pm, a “swatting” threat message was forwarded to the department. The threat was determined to be a prank.
On 08/07/2024 at 12:49 pm, a theft occurred in the 1000 block of west highway 20.
On 08/07/2024 at 10:42 pm, a disturbance occurred in the 500 block of north Valentine Street.
On 08/08/2024 at 10:43 am, a non-injury accident occurred at 1st and Hall Streets.
On 08/08/2024 at 10:51 am, a suspicious vehicle was reported in the 100 of south Main Street.
On 08/08/2024 at 3:50 pm, a dog was running at large in the City Park.
On 08/08/2024 at 10:41 pm, a careless driver was reported in the City Park.
On 08/09/2024 at 1:11 am, a disturbance occurred in the 100 block of north Main Street.
On 08/09/2024 at 7:58 pm, a dog was running at large in the 300 block of north Ray Street.
On 08/09/2024 at 9:58 pm, a dog was running at large in Little’s Trailer Court.
On 08/09/2024 at 12:19 pm, a dog was running at large in the 100 block of south Main Street.
