The annual 4-H and FFA livestock sale was held on Saturday the Cherry County Fair. Volume buyers unofficially included Sandhill Oil, Security First Bank along with Perritt Construction, Sandhills Family Dental and Stec farms and Stec Electric. There were several other businesses or individuals who purchased more than one animal. There were 105 animals sold including 56 beef.
There were some young 4H members who wanted to support some local charities and donated all or part of their premiums to those charities. Case and Cade Arganbright donated 10% of their market beef proceeds to the Heart City Theater group. This amounted to a total of over $2000. Wesley Willert continued with his donation of the proceeds from his market lamb to the Cherry County 4H Foundations. This was about $1600. Kennedy Hoffman donated a portion of her premium to classmate Cinch Rieser who suffered an eye injury recently. This donation came to about $4,500. The steer was also the top selling animal at the fair with a price tag of $15,000 from Sandhill Oil.
Some other noteworthy details of the 4H sale, this year they did an ultrasound on beef animals prior to the sale. There were some 15 to 17 inch rib-eyes on some of the beef.
Thanks to all the buyers who supported the 4-Hers in their market animal sale.
