The Valentine Chamber of Commerce hosted another successful Crazy Day promotion this past Saturday. The day started with numerous merchants on Main Street and elsewhere, offering sidewalk sales and in-store specials. The first ever Sidewalk Art Contest was held with about a dozen entries. The public voted on the winners. Lilly Bailey won the 12 and under division, Ruby Rinne was the winner in the 12 to 18 category, Jamie Elliott won the 18 and over, the team youth category was won by Montana Klehahn and Mali Morrison. Keeleigh Burge and Caitlyn Huggins won the adult and youth category. Each winner or group will win 20 dollars in chamber bucks.

The Chamber also offered up to $300 in payback for receipts from businesses on Crazy Day. Broken Spoke Boutique was a popular spot with 4 winners selected from that location. Chelsea Renning for $60, Brand Muirhead for $20, Bailey Rae for $120 and Haley Osnes for $50. Other winners were Nadeane Allard for 30 dollars at Flowerland, Jan Wells for $25 from Reese Propane and Johana Egger for 10 dollars at Nelsen Furniture.

In the corn hole tournament held by Humdinger Boots on Hall Street, Doug and Nash Hesse took first place. 2nd place were Kim Valen and Tye Hanson, Third place to Dillon Lurz and Calvin Webster. Just out of the money in 4th place were Nick Fisbeck and Brandon Gehlson.

Despite the triple digit temperatures, Harley Thorpe entertained at the block party at 6pm and there was a large crowd for the Bailey Rae concert from 9 to 11.

Don’t forget the chamber will be serving watermelon Saturday evening at the Cherry County Fair. They have also put a call out for the Chaduza Cookoff in the City Park on September 7th. Prizes for the best BBQ and once again this year there will be live music in the park.
