After battling a small grass fire east of Valentine on Monday, the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department was paged to the report of a grass fire west of Valentine on Tuesday afternoon. Valentine and Kilgore firemen were paged out to a grass fire at about 4:50 Central Time southwest of Crookston on South Crookston Road by the Nelson place. Approximately 5 acres burned in the grass fire thought to have been started by lightning. Firemen from both departments were on scene for about an hour.
