The Valentine Volunteer Fire Department responded to a small grass fire on Thursday afternoon.  The call came in at about 3:40 central time for a grass fire reported north of Valentine on North Ridge Road.  Cherry County Dispatch advised that there were a couple private trucks that were on scene and that no structures were in immediate danger.

After a quick response, firemen were on scene only a short amount of time before the fire was deemed to be put out safely.

The National Weather Service does predict some precipitation on Friday and Sunday in North Central Nebraska and South Central South Dakota.

Area fire chiefs also continue to ask that folks keep their stock tanks full when possible to help keep a good water supply available in the event of a grass fire in your area.
