On Monday July 8, 2024, the Valentine Police Department responded to the 100 block of south Hall Street to assist in locating the parents/guardians of a young female. The investigation led officers to the 300 block of east 3rd Street where the child’s parent was located. Officers arrested Kenneth Middaugh, age 41 of Valentine, for child neglect. During the contact, officers discovered that Middaugh was in possession of a handgun. Middaugh is prohibited from being in possession of firearms. On July 9, 2024, information was forwarded to the Police Department indicating that Middaugh had additional firearms in his residence. Officers with the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office and the Valentine Police Department executed a search warrant on the home. A firearm was seized as a result of this search warrant.
