The City of Valentine held a regular council meeting at the library on Thursday evening. During the meeting the council heard a request by the Cherry County Ag Society to discuss the potential for an interceptor sewer line as well as electricity needs at the fairgrounds. City Manager Shane Seiwart stated that he put in a request with the engineering firm for more information Friday morning. There was also an application made to the Rural Community Recovery Program for a grant to complete the park road/city park trail. Seiwart stated that this is a long shot with the total money available totaling about $10 million and six or seven hundred applicants for these grants.
The appointments to the Library Board and Economic Development Board were approved with Betty Daugherty to the Library Board for a 4 year term. Sean Markus and Whitney Mayhew were both reappointed to 3 year terms on the ED Board.
The Fire Department roster was approved, and the council wrapped up the meeting with some budget discussion.
The next regular meeting for the Valentine City Council will be held on Thursday July 11th at 6pm.
