The West 4th Street, in Valentine project has been awarded to Prime Contractor Paulsen Inc. of Cozad, Nebraska and is scheduled to be constructed in 2025.
This 3/4 mile project is located on highway US-83 starting about a block west of Main Street and ending at the Minnechaduza bridge North of town.
Work on the project includes reconstructing highway US-83 which requires removing and replacing the existing concrete pavement. The project also includes improvements to sidewalks, storm sewer, roadway lighting, and repairs to the bridge over Minnechaduza Creek. The City of Valentine plans to update city owned utilities with this project.
The project will be constructed in phases. The phase from Main Street to Edna Street will require complete closure and traffic will be detoured on Cherry, West 3rd, and Edna Streets. The detour is scheduled to be in place during the summer months while school is not in session. The phase from Edna Street to the end of the project will be constructed under traffic with lane closures controlled by a temporary traffic signals. Access to adjacent properties will be maintained during construction but may be limited at times due to phasing requirements.
