Nebraska Game and Parks finished conducting walleye spawn operations at Merritt Reservoir over the last two weeks April 8-12th and April 17-19th. According to Zac Brashears, they were able to catch 1,023 female walleye and spawned 700 quarts of eggs at 123,000 eggs per quart or 86 million eggs for statewide Walleye production needs.
Brashears told KVSH News that “The catch was down some but still really good. We caught 1306 female walleye last year. I think with the ups and downs in weather this year the walleye have been spawning for several weeks instead of 7-10 days.
